“Erin, I need to tell you something.”
My stomach tightened.
“What?”
“There was another reason Ron wanted everyone there.”
I sat very still.
“What reason?”
“I don’t know all of it. But yesterday morning, he told Joe that once Grace came home, things were finally going to be ‘settled properly.’”
“What does that mean?”
“I asked.”
“And?”
“He told me it wasn’t my business.”
A chill moved across my shoulders.
Then Melissa said, “Check your office.”
