My Dad Sold the House I Inherited and Paid for My Sister’s Vacation

“The money is being put toward something useful.”

A moment later Kelsey laughed.

“But I need a vacation.”

That sentence told me exactly where the money had gone.

My sister had always been the center of their universe.

When she failed classes, they blamed the teachers.

When she quit jobs, they blamed bad management.

When she maxed out credit cards, they blamed the economy.

When I succeeded, they called it luck.

When she failed, they called her misunderstood.

It had been that way our entire lives.

Apparently now it included stealing my inheritance.

I asked my father how he managed to sell property that legally belonged to me.

His answer made my stomach drop.

“You signed authorization papers years ago.”

I knew exactly which papers he meant.
