I raised my phone.
“I have my identification, the recorded deed, property tax records, and proof this is my primary residence.”
Michael stepped forward.
“Officer, this is a marital dispute. My wife is being dramatic.”
The officer faced him. Then at the new lock.
“When was this lock changed?”
Michael hesitated.
“Today.”
“Who authorized it?”
“I did.”
“And are you the property owner?”
Michael’s jaw tightened.
“I’m her husband. I live here.”
“That wasn’t my question.”
I handed the officer my phone. She studied the deed. Then back at Michael.
