I’ve probably gone through hundreds of gallons of milk in my life and somehow never once paid attention to this little circle on the side of the jug.

for pancakes.

I’ve put it in coffee.

I’ve carried it from the grocery store to the refrigerator.

I’ve probably stared directly at that little circle thousands of times.

And somehow, my brain apparently decided:

“Nothing to see here.”

Then one day, I noticed something.

One milk jug had that little circle pushed completely inward.

Another one was sticking way out.

And suddenly I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

Why were they different?

Was it intentional?

Did it mean something?

Was one jug damaged?

Was one old?

Was the milk somehow
