Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
Directions:
- Mix the dry ingredients:In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Add the wet ingredients:In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then add in the milk and melted butter. Stir until fully blended.
- Combine wet and dry:Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon or spatula until a soft, sticky dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Heat your pan:Place a non-stick skillet or pan (with a lid) overlow to medium-low heat. Lightly grease it with a bit of butter or oil.
- Cook the dough:Pour the dough into the pan and spread it evenly to form a thick disc (like a thick pancake). Cover the pan with the lid.
- Cook covered:Let it cook for about10–15 minutes, or until the bottom is golden and the top begins to set. Watch the heat so it doesn’t burn.
- Flip the bread:Carefully flip the bread using a wide spatula or plate, then cover again and cook the other side for5–8 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
- Cool & serve:Remove from the pan and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice and enjoy warm – with butter, honey, jam, or as a sandwich base!
