I blinked.
“What does that have to do with Caleb?”
The officer looked almost embarrassed.
“Because we finally figured out it was him.”
The entire room froze.
“What?”
The officer nodded.
“For months we’ve been trying to identify the donor because some organizations believed the funds might be connected to fraud.”
The principal stepped forward.
“Fraud?”
“Turns out there wasn’t any fraud.”
The officer looked directly at Caleb.
“There was just a seventeen-year-old kid using every dollar he earned to help people.”
The gym fell completely silent.
