They will tell you that electric is easier.
Cleaner.
More modern.
More convenient.
Better for the kitchen.
Better for everything.
And meanwhile, I am standing in the middle of this argument thinking:
You are both heating a pan.
That is the part I cannot get past.
You turn a knob.
The cooking surface gets hot.
You put the pan down.
The food starts cooking.
You adjust the temperature.
Eventually, dinner happens.
